Default Stuff what could be improved for people with sa...

1. Easy access to cbt and counselling on the nhs within a month of first going to your doctor, and subsidised transport if accessing these services requires much travel.
2. Better training regarding sa medication for gps.
3. The offer of occupational therapy combined with cbt to offer practical assistance with going to the shops, restaurants etc.
4. Subsidised meditation and fitness classes delivered in small groups.
5. The offer of a nutritionist's appointment asap to ensure diet is not contributing to excess anxiety.
6. Greater availability of 'entrance to work' schemes, perhaps with a small stipend.
7. Reassurance that disability benefits will not be stopped just because someone has found voluntary or part time work that will benefit them in a theraputic way.
8. Improvements in the wording of DLA forms so it is easier for saers to make the extent of which their disability affects their life understood.
9. Greater availability of art and drama therapy services.
10. Courses designed specifically for the jobseeker with social anxiety, with perhaps mentoring support if felt necessary when the jobseeker finds work.
11. A more holistic approach to sa and related disorders in the nhs, with stronger links between relevant services, i.e. drug, alcohol, eating disorders etc.

Please add more below, cheers

Sounds good to me.

Perhaps someone should also develop an exposure type course, much like the FAST course, that uses role playing to force people to face the fear and develop their social skills.

Sounds good, but the problem is this range of services isn't available to anyone, let alone for a condition that some still see as trivial

The cheap travel thing especially, is something I would like.

Cheers for replying you two! Pal, I too would love a proper exposure type course, quite a fan of role playing (in a purely theraputic non-pervy sense of course!). Nothing_to_say, yup point taken, it was meant to be an 'in an ideal world...' kind of thing, so sadly I think there's more chance of the nhs collapsing completely than all this stuff happening, but hey!
Yup, cheap travel is always good! In a lot of places, getting dla can be a first step towards getting free bus fares etc, but I think it can depend on which rates you get for things. I'll have to double check.

Aww thank you Pal! :embarass: Indeed indeed, it's all official now as we actually scraped the money together for a ring...it's going to be a pretty long engagement though, as I need to get up the nerve to walk down an aisle with ridiculously high shoes on whilst simultaneously tripping over a dress at the same time....now that will take a while!
